Managing Energy Usage

An important first step in managing your energy usage is understanding how much energy you are using relative to similar properties.  The process of comparing one’s business processes and performance metrics against a standard is referred to as “benchmarking”.  Energy efficiency benchmarking can be a valuable tool for beginning to better manage energy usage.

The EPA has a 1-100 ENERGY STAR score that allows businesses to do just this!  In this tool, 1 is the least efficient and 100 is the most efficient.  This tool will be most effective if it is used regularly—so be sure to update your account and track your progress.  Visit their website to get started!
