This event honored the cities of Alhambra, Claremont, El Monte, and San Marino for their work on various energy efficiency projects over the past year. We also looked forward to the 2010-2012 program cycle and our goal of acheving 5 million kWh in energy savings! Tuesday, December 1, 2009 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm Pacific Palms Hotel Industry Hills, CA LED Holiday Light Exchange In 2009, SGVEWP offered to SCE residential customers located in the San Gabriel Valley the opportunity to exchange their incandescent holiday light strings for LED holiday light strings for free. LEDs are exceptionally energy efficient and use up to 90% less energy than a comparable incandescent bulb. The amount of electricity consumed by just one 7-watt incandescent bulb could power 140 LEDs—enough to light more than four 10-foot LED strings. State of Utilities Breakfast San Gabriel Valley community leaders joined together at this newsworthy forum to hear industry utility executives address regional issues impacting electric, gas, and water. Remarks were also provided by San Gabriel Valley Legislative Caucus Chair, Assemblymember Ed Hernandez, O.D.and Vice-Chair, State Senator Bob Huff. AB 811 programs are springing up around the State to help reduce residential energy use and meet climate change goals. The Partnership hosted this workshop to learn more about various the County of Los Angeles' plans for an AB 811 program, as well as learn more about the latest information on other programs in the state. Workshop Resources: Free Workshop: Homeowner Solar Information Session Wednesday, July 8th 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm Alexander Hughes Community Center - Claremont, CA More than 100 residents and SCE customers attended this session where they learned about how to support renewable energy and help save the environment by taking advantage of rebates from the California Solar Initiative offered for qualifying solar energy systems. These are dollars that the cities in the San Gabriel Valley can apply for to implement a wide range of projects that will increase energy efficiency and show bottom line savings in your budget.
